Корпорация Google представила новую тестовую версию своего пакета под названием Google Earth. Программа предназначена для работы с одноименным сервисом, который позволяет просматривать спутниковые снимки планеты Земля в 3D-режиме, используя для этого технологию OpenGL.Присутствуют функции для поиска по адресам, по объектам. Четвертая версия представляет более упрощенный интерфейс, а также возможность отображения некоторых строений в трехмерном виде. В последних выпусках появилась возможность использования дополнительных информационных слоев, функции записи видео высокой четкости.
